FAQs

Sizing - What size to go for?

Bangles

To find your bangle size, measure the widest part of your hand. To do this, bring your fingers and thumb together and measure your knuckle area with your thumb tucked in as if you’re about to put a bangle on. Use this circumference measurement to choose your bangle size at the checkout.

Rings

When choosing your correct ring size the ring should be tight over your knuckle and then sit comfortably on your finger. It is best to measure your finger size at least 2-3 times and at different times of the day to check the size.

* I sell ring sizers online if you need help with finding the correct size.

Stretchy Bracelets

Choose your size of bracelet at the checkout. To find out your size, measure your wrist with a tape measure or string/measure. Add on half to one inch (depending on how you like to wear your bracelets) to find out your measurement.

Necklace lengths

Choose your length of necklace at the checkout.

Below is a handy diagram of necklace lengths:

Beads and Gemstones

Any gemstones or beads that I use in my work are purchased from reputable suppliers who share a commitment to quality and responsibility.

Please note that when photographing the items I show them against a coin or my hands to give perspective, but please do check the sizing of the beads/stones on the description to ensure you’re happy before ordering.

Hallmarking

I use Sterling Silver (925), Fine Silver (999) and Gold, therefore I abide by the Hallmarking Act 1973.

Any jewellery I make that contains over 7.78 grams of Sterling Silver or Fine Silver in total, or 1.0 grams of Gold in total must be hallmarked.

Lower weighted items can be hallmarked anyway but legally they do not have to be hallmarked unless they are over the 7.78 grams for Silver, or 1.0 grams for Gold.

I am registered with the London Assay Office.

How should I care for my jewellery?

Please be aware that silver, copper and bronze jewellery will tarnish over time. When you’re not wearing your jewellery, it is best to keep it in a jewellery box or an airtight plastic bag when you’re not wearing your pieces.

Cleaning: for sterling silver/fine silver pieces use a silver polishing cloth to bring back the shine. For copper or bronze use a metal polisher or alternatively mix some warm water, a few drops of lemon juice and a little baking soda and use a soft toothbrush to carefully clean your pieces. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water and dry with a soft cloth.

To prolong the life of your jewellery, always remove when swimming, showering/bathing and exercising.

Avoid moisture and chemicals (including perfumes, hairsprays, beauty products etc).

With each order I send out a complimentary polishing cloth to keep your piece shiny!

What happens if I order the wrong size?

Please ensure that when you order a ring that you check and choose your correct size. If you find that on delivery of the ring it is the wrong size, I offer a re-sizing service wherever possible. Please contact me as soon as possible via email: hello@kathrynjane.co.uk to discuss this further before returning the ring(s) to me.

To increase the ring size the cost starts at £5 (depending on the number of rings you would like me to upsize) plus the postage costs to return to you.

To decrease the ring size the cost starts at £15, (depending on the number of rings you would like me to downsize) plus the postage costs to return to you.

NB: Items should be returned in their original packaging and in their original condition. Buyers are responsible for return postage costs and the rings should be sent via a tracking service, e.g. Royal Mail Signed For or Special Delivery.

For other items that may require re-sizing please contact me and I will provide an estimate.

*I only re-size pieces that I have made.
